PEORIA — One stretch of Glen Avenue is entering the final phases of construction while another is just beginning.
The city’s Public Works Department announced that on Monday, March 20, Glen between Knoxville Avenue and North Edgebrook Drive will be closed to through traffic until about midsummer. The work is necessary, the city says, to complete the remaining reconstruction work on Glen Avenue between Knoxville Avenue and North Sheridan Road.
The joint city-county project began a few years ago and had Glen widened from two lanes to three, with the center lane used as a turn lane on that stretch. Sidewalks, curbs and a gutter with storm sewers will also be added.
